Dwarkadhish Temple Sightseeing

The Dwarkadhish Temple (Jagat Mandir) in Dwarka is undoubtedly the main attraction for tourists visiting the city. Its rich history dates back more than 2500 years when it is believed to have been established by Lord Krishna's great-grandson, Vajranabh.

The temple has undergone several renovations, with imprints of the 16th and 19th centuries still visible to this day. The temple, atop a small hill, has 50+ steps and sculptured walls that surround the sanctum with the main Krishna idol. The temple complex has smaller shrines and intricately carved walls featuring mythical characters and legends. The 43 m high spire has a flag made from 52 yards of cloth that flutters in the breeze from the Arabian Sea. The temple has two doors, swag and moksh, and a bridge called Sudama Setu takes one across Gomti Creek towards the beach.
