Aizawl

Aizawl, the capital city of Mizoram, is a magnificent hilltop destination that sits at an impressive altitude of 1132 meters above sea level. The city is surrounded by the imposing peaks of Durtlang on the north and is situated on ridges of steep hills that offer breathtaking views of the Sylvan valley of the river Tlawng in the west and the river Tuirial in the east and south.

Lunglei

Lunglei, located in Southern Mizoram, is the second largest city in the state and undoubtedly the best starting point for nature lovers to explore the surrounding areas that are abundant in flora and fauna. This city also serves as the headquarters of Lunglei district and offers an amazing experience to visitors with its small villages and landmarks steeped in folklore and legends. With an altitude of 1222 meters, Lunglei is perched higher than Aizawl and can be easily reached by a 169 km drive from there.

Tam Lake

Tamdil Lake is the largest lake in the state of Mizoram and a natural wonder that is bound to leave you spellbound. This man-made lake was created with the sole purpose of becoming a tourist attraction and it has succeeded in doing just that. How to Reach Mizoram

Air

The state is well connected with the rest of Indian cities through direct flights. Lengpui Airport is the only airport in the state located at a distance of 32 from the city of Aizawl

Train

Bairabi railway station is the only station of Mizoram located at a distance of 90 km from Aizawl. 

Road

Mizoram can be easily travelled from roadways through various routes. There are a total of 6 national highways that pass through the state allowing easy access from the other major cities of India.

The traditional dress of Mizos is a combination of bright colour fabrics which are mostly used during religious events and festivals. ‘Puan’ is the traditional dress of women, while men wear ‘Pachhu’.

Food

The cuisine of Mizoram is popular among tourists and is highly influenced by North Indian and Chinese cuisines. Rice is the staple diet accompanied wide range of non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes. Most of the foods are prepared using a very minimal amount of oil and are generally served in the banana leaf. Bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and eggs are the major ingredients of Mizo cuisine. Some of the popular foods of Mizoram include Bai and Koat Pitha. Bamboo Shoot Fry, Misa Mach Poora and Panch Phoran Tarka.

Festival

Mizoram is one of the prominent parts of northeast India that is widely known for its vibrant culture and diverse community that can be witnessed in its festivals. Music and dance forms are the major part of their traditions that are performed on the eve of festivals and religious events. Some of the popular festivals include Chapchar Kut, Anthurium, Mim Kut, and Khuado Kut.
