The Great Stupa: This is the main stupa and the most impressive structure in the complex. It was built by Emperor Ashoka the Great in the 3rd century BCE to house the relics of the Buddha. The stupa is adorned with intricate carvings depicting scenes from the Buddha's life and stories from the Jataka tales.
The Four Gateways: The Great Stupa is surrounded by four ornate gateways, each facing one of the cardinal directions. The gateways are decorated with sculptures and reliefs depicting various scenes from Buddhist mythology.
Ashoka Pillar: Located near the Great Stupa, this monolithic pillar was erected by Emperor Ashoka in the 3rd century BCE. The pillar is topped with a four-lion capital, which is the national emblem of India.
The Great Bowl: This massive bowl-like structure, carved out of a single rock, was once used to store grains for the monks and pilgrims who visited the stupa.
Sanchi Museum: Established in 1919, the museum houses a collection of artifacts and sculptures from the Sanchi Stupa complex and other nearby Buddhist sites.
